National Shooting Week 2012

National shooting Week 2012 a Great Success in Olympic Year

As part of National Shooting Week 2012, clubs and grounds held over 300 events throughout the country for newcomers to the sport of shooting. In its sixth year, the week has become so sucessful that the event gained Government backing. The Sport and Olympics Minister Hugh Robertson said:

"In the year that we host the Olympics, we want the Games to be a catalyst to inspire a generation to get involved in sport. National Shooting Week is a great opportunity to try a new Olympic sport and learn about the self-discipline needed to succeed."

To launch National Shooting Week 2012, which ran from 2-10 June, the Countryside Alliance took a class of schoolchildren from London to West Kent Shooting School to try their hand at shooting some clays.

The day was a complete success, and everyone who participated went home with a smile on their face and a shooting goodie bag. The event was covered by the Independent on Sunday, which can be seen here.

The organsiers of National Shooting Week would like to thank all those who took part and made this event so special in this Olympic year.
